According to the analysis of recently published results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) research conducted in 2018 the quality of education in russian schools has slightly decreased since 2015. PISA measures 15-year-olds’ ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills to meet real-life challenges, therefore its results and findings are so important for everyone in educational sphere, from policymakers to teachers and students.
In the ranking of 79 countries for 2018, Russian students placed 31st in reading literacy with the average score of 479 points out of 1000, 30th in math with 488 points and 33rd in science (478). At the previous PISA-2015 research with 70 participating countries, Russian Federation was ranked 26th in reading literacy, 23rd in math and 32nd in science with average score of 495, 494 and 487 respectively.
